SUFFOLK's first ever Dog Day was held on Saturday 16 August 2008 at Helmingham Hall near Stowmarket.  The sun-soaked event raised over £20,000 for the charitable Suffolk Foundation, which strives to improve the quality of life for the people living in Suffolk.

Approximately 6,000 people attended with 760 pedigree and mixed breed dogs registered across the many different events, which included:

  • Dog fancy dress
  • Suffolk Constabulary Police Dog Demonstration
  • The dog the judge would most like to take home
  • OAP’s (Old Age Pooches)
  • Perkiest Pup
  • The Leonberger Club of Gt Britain Water Rescue Demonstration
  • Agility
  • Dog most like its owner
  • Dogs & Owners with the best legs
  • Dog with the wagiest tail

Bloodhound Charlie, owned by Craig Ferguson was named Dog of the Day and awarded an engraved silver trophy by Lady Tollemache.

It was a successful, fun, well attended event and we hope the organisers repeat it in 2009.
