I was just bragging to a friend how I never have any trouble with my computers. I shouldn't have said anything. I built (gave birth to) my PC three years ago and have nourished it into a well balanced, respectful teenager. It was always a good child. Sure, sometimes it got a little grumpy (what child doesn’t) but all it would need is a little attention – update a troublesome driver, reinstall a naughty application, clean up the registry with a little spit on a tissue, and from time to time I even changed its diaper (vacuumed the filter). Also, as a responsible father vaccinations were always important to protect my little darling from all those nasty bugs and in those three years their never was even a cough. Over the years it never hung, slowed down, or had a hissy fit and threw its bytes on the floor when I sat down to play… uh, work. It’s always on, beckoning me to come and toil over my latest project. This morning as I walked by my office before going out, I noticed that there was no light coming from my PC. Oh dear. Following a day of intensive diagnosis, head scratching and poking the keyboard really hard (to let it know “I mean business”), I succumbed to the inescapable truth – I need more beer. No, wait. That’s not it. A transplant is needed! To be continued…
