Despite me getting in a right tangle, last Sundays meeting on the beach was a great success!!! The only downside was that the weather was so lovely the beach was flooded with sunbathers and folk eating pic-nic's (getting in the way of our beach time fun). I plan to hold future gatherings in March (like we used to) to avoid this problem.
I was asked on Sunday how many of these beach meetings had we held? At the time I thought maybe five or six?? But I have checked and last Sundays meeting was our Eighth!!!! How fantastic is that! We have been holding these meetings now since October 2007. The first one was inspired by fellow (American) Cocker Spaniel Breeders and web-friends the Zimmers (based in the US). They hold a day long beach party/BBQ every year for many of their owners. Luckily there are year round dog friendly beaches in California. Sadly I don't think holding a day long beach party for 30+ excited cocker spainels on Appley, in mid summer would go down very well with all the holiday makers.
We didn't have as many owners and dogs there as we have in past years. But it was great seeing loads of first time owners in attendance and all the dogs had a great time rushing about barking and generally having a blast!

Diggory was the only "norty" boy!!! He decided that a large black Greyhound was not allowed to join in the fun, so he had to spend the next twenty minutes on the lead.
This poor chap got a little more than he bargained for when he asked for a walk on the beach today! I love seeing the look on peoples faces as twenty five cocker spaniels rush past!!
Oakley (our future stud dog) like three of his litter mates attended CotB for the first time. It was great to see him playing with Freddie, Margo and Charlie. Although Maggie didn't seem that bothered to meet up with them :)
