Well we are back from the vets and I'm sad to say we won't be having any puppies this time. Our lovely vet had a good feel of Gracie's tummy, checked her over and gave me the news that i was expecting............ Gracie IS having a Phantom (or False) pregnancy.

We will have to watch her closely over the next few weeks as depression can set in, she has already started to collect soft toys and take them to her basket, this we have been told to try and stop her doing as she is treating them like her litter and this will only prolong a depressed state of mind. So all teddy's have been gathered up taken to the laundrymatte (spelling) and will be packed away for a while. Diggory is most put out by this as he loves to carry a teddy about. I may have to allow one in the house just to keep my boy happy.

We have also been advised to take Gracie out to new places so that she isn't in her normal routine. Making things that much more exciting for her. So this morning we did the beach which we have avioded since all the holiday makers arrived, luckiy for us the weather is pretty pants today and there were just dog walkers and a few kiddies wadding in the rock pools. Gracie had a lovely time running through the shallows and swam out with Suki after a few sticks. This afternoon I think it's a new walk across the railway track so she has some new sniffs to investigate.

Of course this has only put back any breeding plans for this year not halted them all together. Both Maggie and Suki-su are due in season and will be mated with the Digg. So the house will be filled with the sound of squeeky puppies soon enough. I shall however be getting "my" puppy fix in a few weeks as Diggory has a litter due (next week) with Star a lovely little orange roan from Gosport. I plan to pop over on the ferry and visit them as soon as Star's owner Lesley is having vistors.

Many thanks for all your comments and best wishes sent for Gracie. She is doing very well and has totally recovered from her phantom pregnacy. Our Vet has advised that we do try and mate her again she is young and health it may well just have been a blip, so we will try again next season.
