The life and times of Beebee DrackettCase week 8 into week 9. I will try and do a round up each week of the daftness of living with a puppy. So far all seems well (crosses fingers as types this). PoppyRed leaves today and I forsee Beebee's need to play with me and the other dogs increasing as she losses her playmate. But here's life so far.........

I have moved the crate from the kitchen to the lounge as explained in another post (somewhere) she still needs the safety of a crate, it's somewhere that's hers so she can get away from the other dogs when they are on the stampede. I also know where she if and what she is playing with if she is safe in her craft. Beebee sleeps in here, no matter where she falls asleep this is always where she wakes up. I will transfer her slumbering body from whatever dog basket or random place she has chosen to sleep in back to her crate. This helps her form a feeling of safety for the crate. It's not used as a naughty "step" EVER! She eats all her meals here as well, and as soon as she hears her bowl being filled will already rush to the open door of her crate. She has plenty of fun toys to play with that are rotated on a every-other-day basis (this is to stop her getting bored with them).

As well as spending time in her crate Beebee spends a huge amount of her day running about with the other dogs. I'm really surprised how well Diggory has taken to her..... Ok taken to her might be a bit strong :) But he has stopped growling every time she comes into sight and he does manage to walk past her now without that look of terror in his eyes. I can see things are going to work out just fine, and it might help him with his fear of all puppies (they bite you know!!!) Beebee and Maggie have a very strong bond and can often be found curled up in a basket playing together. Beebee is learning a lot from Maggie............ I just hope it's all good habits :)

There are two sheets of newspaper on the floor in the kitchen at all times. Beebee is really good at finding the paper whenever she needs it, but I'm not as fast as her so if the paper is missing and I see her looking for it. I haven't yet managed to get the paper down before she needs to "go". I have learnt from this and now I the paper will stay there until she is able to ask to go out of the door. That will be a while yet as I think the back door steps are going to be a bit of a struggle for her until she grows some more.

Each time I call her Beebee comes to her name and has her eye washed and drops added (we are doing this four times a day at the moment). She is no bother and happily sits and lets me fuss about her eye. she still seems to have vision from it. We are off to the vets this next week for her vaccinations and another eye check up. I had forgotten the wipe this morning and as I collected them from the draw next to my desk Beebee had a quick slurp of my morning coffee (very milky).

She seems to liked the coffee and made every effort to finish it off before I was able to take it away from her.
Needless to say I made a fresh cup for myself :)

So that's it really. she is a little star and I hardly know I have her at home. iI hought she would turn the house up-side down, but it seems keeping one of our own puppies is a lot less work than when we bought in Maggie, and Suki for that matter. Beebee knows the routine, she rarely demands anything of me or the other dogs. I just hope things continue to run as smoothly as she grows... chews.... and finds her feet amongst the big dogs.

Ahhh Paige, Beebee is an absolute little darling. I choose one puppy out of every litter you breed an she is the one I chose this time !! She really is a little star just like her mum, Ive always had a soft spot for maggie from the very first moment i met her when she was 8 mnths old and we came to visit Murphy for the first time. Hope her eye is getting a bit better. best wishes Janine & Murphy x x x
