Since changing Minnie's name to Beebee I have had a few people ask me why Beebee?
well there is a story behind this and I'll let you in on it now. I have been a Cocker breeder
now for a few years and although I love all the puppies I breed and rear until 2007 I had never fallen "in love"
with a puppy, knowing they would all be leaving me at 8 weeks stopped me making "that" bond with any of them.
I adore all the babies and they all have tons of cuddles and lovin's while they are here with me,
but there was one puppy in Maggie's first litter that I so wanted to keep her name was Phoebe-Bee.
I was so upset when her lovley owners came to collect her and have dreamed of owning my own golden girl called Phoebe ever since.

When Maggie's litter was born this year I had to help rear this little dot as she was smaller than
all the others and kept getting shoved out the way at feeding time.
Maggie was great and would come out of the nest to feed her without the others.
but the bulk of the feeding was done by me.

she spend so much time in my arms she became used to being there. I had no plans to keep any puppies
from this litter and we found a lovely home for her, she was named Minnie.

As she grew it was clear to see something was wrong with one of her eyes.

After a trip to the vet we were told that she might have an infection and given some drops.
This however didn't clear up and after a second trip to the vets we were told that her right eyeball is
smaller then it should be. As the eye lids and socket are normal size her little eye doesn't fill the space.
Until she is fully grown we will not know the extent of her requirements.
There is a possibly she will need surgery, she might even lose her eye.

With all this in mind we have chosen to keep her with us until we know what her life will bring.
(the lovely family that were planning to home Minnie are going to wait and have a puppy from Suki's next litter that is
hopefully due at the end of next month). However I can see once she has been
here a few more months I will be very reluctant to let her go to a new family once her eye is sorted (either way).

As she is now my puppy I wanted her to have a name that I have chosen not the name the puppy she might have been.
I always wanted Phoebe to be my next breeding girl, this little sweetie will never breed
(she will be spay as soon as she is old enough) so she couldn't be my Phoebe.
Sam, my friends little girl is called Shelby but is nicknamed Bee.
Bee loves coming over to help me with the pups and adores Beebee.

So she is named in honour of Phoebe (the pup I will have to wait for) and the lovely Shelby (the best puppy-maid in Ryde).
Beebee my little squiffy eyed puppy.
Look forward to more plenty of updates and she becomes part of our mad family.
